Flourishing Friendships

Roses are red. Violets are blue. Michelle lives our mission, how about you?

In her 12 years as a patient access representative at Altru Rehabilitation Center, Michelle Norling has exceeded her job expectations. She’s a Face of Altru, who makes each patient feel comfortable and gets to know them on a personal level.

Because of this approach, she’s developed friendships with patients that have blossomed. Literally.

“I’ve found that if you treat others with kindness, respect and compassion, it comes back to you,” she explains.

For Michelle, it has.

“I’ve received gifts from many patients,” says Michelle. “I developed a bond with an elderly man and his wife who have a beautiful garden in Grand Forks. The flowers started coming in the spring. Every Monday, they’d leave a bouquet of flowers for me on their way to Altru’s Medical Fitness Center.”

Michelle has received an array of flowers during spring and summer months, but the greatest gift of all are the friendships that blossom throughout the year.

This coming spring, stop by Michelle’s desk. Say hi and admire the flowers.

Do you know someone who is a Face of Altru? Drop us their name in a comment.

  1. Michelle is one of my most favorite people to see at Altru. She always has a smile on her face and can turn my day around with a simple hello.
